Designer Dolls by Laloushka

I have to admit that despite good intentions to keep blogging over the Christmas holidays, it prove to be far too difficult to turn on my laptop whilst the tempation of left over turkey and stuffing lured me back into the kitchen!

Said leftovers having now been entirely finished off, I am back in full form and ready to reveal this year’s exciting news, events and places to see. So to start off 2013, I couldn’t resist these adorable and super stylish designer dolls from Polish label Laloushka where you’ll find your favourite couturiers from Coco Chanel to a fierce looking Vivienne Westwood and even a pouting Victoria Beckham, complete with baby Harper Seven. The dolls are priced at 80 to 90 euros but if you’re not mad about having one of fashion’s finest characters in your home, how about your very own personalized doll?

Simply send in as many details as you can complete with a photograph of the person you which to recreate and then wait for Laloushka to do the magic. We spotted some amazing dolls with mini Louis Vuitton bags, sunglasses and even a teeny pair of Chanel ballerines… how much do I want one of those!

Have a look at the website and be sure to keep a note for that next present idea… why is it that great gift ideas always reveal themselves just after Christmas??

Paris Christmas Windows chez Printemps

Paris Christmas Windows chez Printemps

Christmas in Paris is probably one of my favourite holidays ever. As much as I love the lights of Oxford and Regent Street and the frenzied vibe of last minute shoppers in Selfridges and Liberty’s, nothing quite compares to the couture vitrines of the Printemps on the Boulevard Haussmann, or the animated scenes on display at Le Bon Marche… it’s always quite an event heading out on a crisp November evening, wrapped up in duffel coat and boots, to view the new windows and this year did not disappoint.

Despite leaving big shoes to fill after the 2011 Chanel windows (complete with mini Karl Lagerfelds!), this Christmas it was Dior who stepped up chez Printemps with re-creations of perfume ads (Miss Dior CheriePoison…) and full-size, as well as miniature, couture gowns. There were masqued balls, ice-skating rinks, unicorns and a complete fair ground full of little Dior-dressed dolls… oh how I wish they were for sale!

Chloe Attitudes Exhibition in Paris

Chloe attitudes

Having been so excited about the Chloé Attitudes exhibition opening  in late September, it seemed like I was never going to find the time to actually visit the highly anticipated display so this weekend, I made it my number one priority… and boy was it worth the wait!

Just arriving at the glamorous contemporary art gallery Palais de Tokyo and finding the bold Chloé. Attitudes entrance to the exposition, I couldn’t wait to get inside, I didn’t know where to look first… From walls of vintage photographs of Chloé creator Gaby Aghion (who also created the term prêt-à-porter itself!) including a beautiful watercolour self-portrait to stunning advert photography and a fascinating display of collections from the fashion house’s archives.

It was like an absolute paradise of couture with collections by Karl LagerfeldStella McCartneyPhoebe PhiloClare Waight Keller and Hannah MacGibbon, each designer adding their own personal touch to the label. Karl Lagerfeld‘s pieces certainly dominated the exhibition though with fun, original inspiration clearly portrayed within the outfits themselves from musical instruments to sewing instrument and even lightbulbs complete with sockets making up the patterns of vibrant dresses in the Spring/Summer 96 collection Power.

There is simply way too much to talk about from this exhibition so other than highly recommending the display to anyone in the city before the 18th of November, take a look at some of the pictures I took of the displays.

What to Wear: Paris Weekend

Last weekend I was torn between dressing up for the super-chic Chloe Attitudes exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo and keeping warm in the freezing cold, wet weather so I decided on my newly acquired (and absolute favourite) J.Crew cashmere blend French hen sweater paired with Comptoir des Cotonniers jeans, my Carolina Bucci lucky bracelet, Monica Vinader bangle and the most stunning Chloe Elsie day bag bien sur!

I love the quirky cool vibe of the sweater (most stylish hen ever!) and have had so many compliments about it already  but I think it looks even better when teamed with classic blue jeans and glamorous accessories. The Carolina Bucci charm bracelet is simply stunning (I know I haven’t stopped talking about the brand recently) and the Monica Vinader bangle is a staple jewellery piece that looks beautiful as a statement piece on its own or added to other bangles and bracelets. When it comes to Chloe, I think the name speaks for itself but the Elsie day bag is a real favourite of mine with its iconic cross lock and top quality leather, it’s slouchy enough to be worn casually but is always chic no matter how you wear it… a real investment piece!
