A Coiffure Fit for a Cockatiel

Like most people in their mid-twenties, my dress sense over the years has totally transormed! I can now admit that elegant skater dresses and tapered trousers have replaced my student wardrobe of way-too-tight mini dresses and horribly ripped jeans and I’m assured, mostly by despairing family members, that’s it’s a very good thing too!

On the other hand, growing up seems to have had completely the opposite effect on my hairstyles. Where once I would spend my hours of free time trying out new up-dos and accessorising with anything from Swarovski-covered clips to old pencils and even flour in desperation to create a matte texture(not to be recommended!), I’m now a firm believer in a good surf spray to cover up scruffy bed hair. No style, no effort and absolutely no accessories! And that all seemed to be fine with me, I kidded myself that I was rocking a kind of ‘effortless chic’ trend… but recently I discovered the beautiful hair pieces by Parisian designer Marion of the brand Calopsitte which have absolutely put my tangled nest to shame.

The brand name Calopsitte, is actually the French word for cockatiel and that’s exactly where Marion found her inspiration. Envious of this exotic bird’s perfect coiffure, Marion took to designing the most refined headbands and ornaments which today make up a stunning collection of retro flower bands and metal accessories embellished with delicate pearls and floral patterns.

Each item is presented and sold with the same attention as a fine piece of jewelry and some of the headbands are in fact more like jewels than they are hair accessories but with very affordable price tags (£24 – £46).

The website is minimalist and super cute with gorgeous photography by Céline Hamelin and I just love Aliette Thomazo‘s cockatiel logo with his handsome quiff! {Calopsitte}
